Workshop - Dancing with a Live Band

This is a 2-hour bellydance workshop designed to help dancers build confidence in dancing with live music. The focus will be on musical interpretation, improvisation, and connection with musicians. Dancers will explore how to respond to different rhythms and melodies, learn to take cues from the band, and practice dynamic solo and group improv.

Workshop Goals

1. Help dancers understand and interpret live music – visualizing sound in their movements, recognizing the textures of various instruments, recognizing rhythms, melody changes, and musical phrasing.

2. Teach dancers how to communicate with musicians non-verbally – using body language, eye contact, and movement choices. Teach how musicians learn to feel the language of the movement and allow the visual to affect the sounds.
